Issa Hammond is a Trinidadian-American artist who grew up in Indianapolis, IN. Their artwork addresses receptivity, poetics, systems & the unseen. They attended the Oregon College of Art & Craft + Pacific Northwest College of Art where they earned their MFA in 2012.
In 2008, Hammond dug a large dirt pit by hand that hosted local and national musical acts in Portland, OR. In 2013, they were named by Modern Painter Magazine as 1 of 25 Artist to Watch and in 2017 had their first solo exhibition at Tube Factory artspace. In 2022, they released a digital collection of songs called Time is a Friend. They are part of the artist collective, Catadesic.
