Issa Hammond is a mutant black, Trinidadian-American, trans-nonbinary artist. Their work addresses receptivity, poetics, systems & the unseen. They attended the Oregon College of Art & Craft / Pacific Northwest College of Art where they earned their MFA in 2012, and advanced certification from Nightlight Astrology School in 2019.
In 2008, Hammond dug a large dirt pit by hand that hosted local and national musical acts in Portland, OR. In 2013, they were named by Modern Painter Magazine as 1 of 25 Artist to Watch and in 2017 had their first solo exhibition at Tube Factory artspace. In 2022, they released a digital collection of songs called Time is a Friend.
